Panwali Kantha Bugyal is a very large meadow. Panwali Kantha is at height of 11,161 feet above sea level, and many Himalayan ranges are seen from here. Rare is known for its breathtaking views of the Char Dham mountain range. One kilometer before from Panwali Kantha Bugyal, there is a Mathiya Bugyal, which is very large and beautiful in itself. From Mathiya Bugyal you can also go to Sri Trijugi narayan Temple. Which is about 10 to 15 kilometers away from here.

About location:

      Located in Ghuttu Town, Tehri  district of Uttarakhand. Panwali Kantha Bugyal is one of the largest meadow with many other meadow in Uttarakhand. Panwali Kantha is at height elevation of 11,161 ft. above sea level.

History & recent tales:

      Panwali Kantha and Mathia Bugyal are very large grassy area, close to the Himalayan ranges of Charo Dham for many years. Gawana and all other nearby villages have vernacular houses called “Chani” made of wood and stone. Which they use to graze their cows, buffaloes and sheep goats in the rainy season. At the top of Panwali kantha or in starting, there is the sequence of 6 Pitra temples, which have been worshiped by the villagers here for many years. These temples are the abode place of Pitra. Pitra means our grandfather-great-grandfather like the temple of our ancestors. All whom are worshiped and take their blessings.

      Panwali Kantha and Mathia Bugyal are a very scenic trek in the Garhwal Himalayas and can be run all year round. Panwali Kantha and Mathia Bugyal Trek, which can be traveled throughout the year, is considered one of the best Bugyal treks in the Indian Himalayas.

Day 4: Panwali Kantha Bugyal – Gawana Village – Ghansali Town

Day 5: Ghansali – Dehradun / Rishikesh

Day 1:- Dehradun / Rishikesh – Ghansali Town (155 km Drive / approx. 6 hrs)

On arrival our representative takes to the Camps. You will reach there in 6 hrs & then get refreshed & take some rest. Have dinner and enjoy the camp night which is gripped with forests all around.

Day 2:- Ghansali Town – Gawana Village – Dophang Chaani (35 km drive & 15 km Trek)

Reach Gawana village which is at a height of 2,500 feet. Later we will start the trek to Dophang which is at a height of 8,000 feet. Walking across the forest you find spectacular views with Himalayan birds chirping. After walking a beautiful trek, you finally reach Dophang the open meadow area where some old huts of villagers are situated with the front view of Himalaya range. Have organic dinner & overnight stay at Dophang campsite.

Day 3:- Dophang Chaani – Mathiya Bugyal – Panwali Kantha Bugyal (3 km trek)

Wake up and capture the essence of the Dophang area with sunrise. Second Day will start with a breakfast and start the trek to Panwali Kantha Bugyal which is at height of 11,161 feet. This trail passes through the forest & meadows area surrounded by it. In summer trek meadows looks lushy green & in winter its look like a blanket of snow over it. It’s slightly hard to trek over it when it get melt so we use crampon for it under our shoe. After enjoying some time in Mathiya Bugyal, we will eat our packed lunch in meadow. Later we hike again for Panwali Kantha Bugyal Campsite before sunset and take a look of it from campsite. Dinner & overnight stay at Panwali Kantha Campsite.

Day 4:- Panwali Kantha Bugyal – Gawana Village – Ghuttu Town or Ghansali  (18 km down trek  or 35 km drive)

Wake up and take a view of Sunrise from here & have breakfast, later get ready to move down to Gawana village and then we will move to Ghansali Hotel or Home Stay. Today we walk 18 km down trek to reach Gawana village. Dinner & overnight stay at Hotel or Homestay.

Day 5:- Ghansali – Dehradun / Rishikesh (155 km & approx. 6 hrs)

Good morning to Last day of Trip !! 

Wake up and take a view of sunrise from here & have breakfast, later get ready to move down to Gawana village. Today we will do 18 km down trek and reach there in evening.

Later travel back to Home with happy memories of Panwali Kantha Mathiya Bugyal tour & trek.
