Dayara Bugyal is in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state, in the Himalayan mountains, above the Raithal village. From where you can see the Himalaya ranges. Along the entire stretch, at different junctures, you can catch glimpses of the Gangotri set of peaks, Srikanth peak, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak. You can also enjoy the large meadow area and during winter you can do skiing here too.
About location:
Dayara Bugyal is at the height of 12,500 ft. asl. To reach here, one may reach Uttarkashi and the Raithal village which is 68 km ahead from Uttarkashi by road and then walk to Dayara Bugyal here via Goyi meadow. This is a mostly gentle trek, with overnight halt options at the area of Goyi or Barnala. At Goyi, which is 5 km from Raithal village, one can stay at one of the private lodges or alternatively at Raithal village home.
History & recent tales:
According to the history, Kunti Mata used to cultivate paddy in Bugyal & the place called by the name “Kunti Ki Seri”. Here is a Bakriya top place where is a Vakratunda cave where Lord Ganesha neck was cut by Lord Shiva in history.
It’s also famous for the Butter Holi Festival which is organized by the Raithal local villagers from 900 years ago. They make all arrangements by their own and also do cultural program in Dayara Bugyal. All the villagers are also arrange all facilities to play Makhan Holi. Stay and dinner for the night.

- Altitude- 12,100 ft.
- Distance is 5 km & trekking time- 2-3 hour

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1:- Dehradun / Rishikesh – Raithal Village (8 hrs / 248 km)
Reach Raithal village which is at height of 5,905 feet & get refreshed then get into room. Have evening tea with snacks after that enjoy evening walk around the Raithal village. Later have dinner & overnight stay at village home.
Day 2:- Raithal village – Goyi (5 km trek)
Wake up and capture the essence of the Raithal village with sunrise. Second Day will start with a breakfast and start the trek to Goyi which is at height of 9,500 feet. Walking across the forest you find spectacular views with Himalayan birds chirping. After walking a beautiful trek, you come finally reach Goyi the open meadow area where some old huts of villagers are situated with the front view of Himalaya range. Have organic dinner & overnight stay at campsite.
Day 3:- Goyi – Dayara Bugyal – Raithal village (5 km trek & 10 km back trek)
Wake up early and leave for the trek to Dayara Bugyal. Which is at altitude of 12,100 ft. This trail passes through the forest & meadows area surrounded by it. In summer trek meadows looks lushy green & in winter its look like a blanket of snow over it. It’s slightly hard to trek over it when it get melt so we use crampon for it under our shoe. After enjoying some time in Dayara Bugyal, we will eat our packed lunch in meadow. Later we come back to Raithal village before sunset. Dinner & overnight stay atvillage homestay.
Day 4:- Raithal – Dehradun / Rishikesh (248 km / approx. 8 hrs)
Good morning to Last day of Trip !!
Have breakfast and travel back to Dehradun / Rishikesh with happy memories of Dayara Bugyal tour & trek.
